Hello family and friends, Just a quick email to let you know that God spared Southern Haiti from the worst of Dennis and we are fine. As you can see from the pictures, many trees came down, as well as power lines and roofs. The storm awoke us around 2:15 AM and continued through later afternoon with winds and rain. Jan helped cut up about 6 trees around the compound and says there are 20 more to be taken care of. Linnea had to visit the hospital today with her house gal and heard that 20 or so Haitians had come in to be helped from roofs and branches falling on them. The Shicks said it was the worst storm they had seen. We pray for Jamaica who is next in line. God be merciful to these poor people. There are a lot of banana trees down, which means people go hungry, as well as corn fields flattened so theft will most likely be on the rise. God is in control and we praise Him for His protection. With a cement roof we are well protected. We are thankful we took the time to board up the windows, otherwise we would have had water in our house and leaves all stuck to our window panes. As you can see from the pictures, there is going to be a lot of clean-up going on this weekend. We trust all is well back in Indiana. We are thankful to hear that rain fell over the 4th. God bless you all for your love and prayers. Warmly, Jan, Val and Family PS..this am we actually shivered as we stood outside in the morning winds and rain. Coolest we've been since June 27
