Brett….a quick update- March 2007
Brett continues to improve, not at rapid speeds, but little by little. We continue to work on head control. Without improved head control he can’t sit or even think about crawling. At this point sitting and holding is head by himself is still a lot of work. Right now he is in a phase of complaining immensely whenever I try to exercise him. He simply does not want to do it. I usually don’t quit right away, but try to push him. But all his crying and complaining makes it difficult to feel like we get very far. Over the past month he cut all 4 of his 1 year molars, so he has not felt 100%. Now he has a cold, so another set back. At times his lack of advancement is discouraging, but we have to remember to be patient and realize that his movement will not be by big strides.

We’ve been encouraged by how he seems to respond more and more to us. In the morning when we go to get him, often we will get a smile too. He seems to be able to share with us that he is aware of us. It is wonderful!

He continues to gain weight and grow longer. Just this week I decided to pull out t he 12month clothes, since the 6-9 month outfits were not staying snapped too well. I have not been able to officially weigh him since January, but I am guessing him around 18 ½ lbs. When he gets to 20 lbs we will talk to the Doctors about changing his formula. I am making his cereal a little thicker at times, which is definitely more of a challenge, but he is able to get it down.

His favorite obsession right now in life is his feet. If he is on the floor or in his bouncer, he usually has his feet in his hands. To get his bouncer rocking, he takes his right foot and bounces it several times, then stops. It is so cute. He does not use his left foot for some reason. He often has one of his feet bent over his abdominal area, or clear up by his face.

Our Haitian help really give Brett a lot of love. Mme Lulu is busy most of the time she is here, but on some days she’ll stay a little and take Brett for a walk outside or just sit and hold him. Christophe often stops by Brett and talks with him. Interaction is great for Brett! Roseman, who comes 2 times a week, always asks how Brett is doing. She’ll often pick him up if nobody is around and she hears him fussing.

Please continue to pray for little Brett. He will soon have a new sibling, and we trust the Lord to give us daily strength and grace as we care for 2 little ones. God is in control and we trust Him for the road ahead. To Him be all glory and praise!

Through God we shall do valiantly: for he it is that shall tread down our enemies. Psalm60:12
