God has faithfully cared for us during the past few months since the last update. We often marvel at his wonderful Grace. The Hatians often use the phrase “Gras a Dye” (by the grace of God) whenever you ask them . . . .

As you in the U.S. look forward to spring and nice weather, we continue to pray for rain and cool temps! We are thankful for a few rains which have cleansed the area and brought moisture to the gardens. For many Haitians . . .

Know therefore that the LORD thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and . . .

Flexibility
It is hard to believe that December is here already...where did November go? We've been back a little over a month. Seems each day is busy and full with projects, school, and babies. Jan has had a lot of things going...from working through some issues . . .

Back Again!
We are thankful to have arrived safely back in Haiti once again. We found things in good order and after the usual hellos, hugs, and a great meal prepared by Mme Lulu, we began the unpacking process once again. Many ask us, how do you . . .

The Latest from Haiti, August 1

Another Safe Trip
On May 21 we once again said goodbye to family, closed-up our home, and headed to the Indy Airport. It was not easy for grandparents and Aunt Joan to say goodbye, since baby Joel was only 3weeks old. He will be a changed boy when we return the next time! But, by God’s grace we made the trip . . .

Hello everyone! Just a quick note to let you know we have a new baby, Joel Alan Gutwein. Born April 30 at 2am. He was 9 lb. 6 oz, 21 1/4" long. He as a nice crop of dark hair. Labor began Sunday morning, but did not intensify until Sunday evening around 5pm. He is a healthy little guy with a nice complexion We are thankful to the Lord for another miracle! Joel is truly His work and we praise God. Mom is doing fine, fairly wore out after an 1 1/2 of pushing. She plans to take it easy for awhile. Dad is sore from helping Mom, and the kids and Aunt Joan are tired from little sleep. All are enjoying the beautiful boy whom God has given us. Thanks for all your prayers during the last 9 months.

What’s Been Up with Us?
We’ve had a busy past couple of months to say the least. Jan has been learning more and more about designing trusses for schools and churches. It took a lot of effort, especially for him and Tess, but he has a 3-ring binder full of information for about every aspect . . . . .

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
We want to take this time to wish our many friends and family a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. This is the first time since our marriage in 1987 that I did not get . . . . . . .

In Haiti Again…
We arrived in Haiti on November 7th. Mme Lulu, our helper welcomed us with a wonderful meal in our clean home, thanks to her and Connie Pashak. We were thankful that our entire luggage arrived with us and there would be no special trips to the airport to pick up left-over tubs! After a good supper we immediately began unpacking and suddenly the house was a disaster! It took about 1 day to get all the boxes from 2 sea containers, our luggage from the trip down . . . .

September 10, 2005 - A Saturday Trip to Town
Going into O’ Kay is always an adventure.  Today (September 10) the girls and I, along with Derek and Christoph left Citi Lumiere around 10:30.  We ran out of propane just this morning, so along with getting more propane we needed groceries, textbooks for Christoph, a birthday gift, and any other treasures we can find.  It takes us . . .

AUGUST 26, 2005
Enoc is the head well driller that our Tremont Brothers work closely with. Yesterday he stopped by and said "I have a very bad problem" So I went to survey his problem. As one of the Haitian men were taking the drill rig to the next job site he went up a small incline and the top heavy rig toppled over. This happened only a couple hundred yards from where they are going to dig the well.

Gutwein Haiti Update - August 23, 2005
Greetings of Love in our Lord Jesus.
It has been almost 2 months since we left our home early one Monday morning in June. We can attest to God’s faithfulness and His mercy as we’ve begun our life in Haiti. What a comfort we have in Him, no matter where we are, He is with us. The trials and tests come daily, but He asks us to cast our every care upon Him (1 Pet 5:7), and what joy we have when we do.
