Bluffton December 2006

On December 1st the following Hoosiers meet in the city of Les Cayes: Rick Fiechter; Doyle Frauhiger; Ted Habegger; Chad & Pam Huber; Gene Reinhard; Justin Reinhard; Katy Schlipf; Chris Stoller; and Beth Tonner for a construction based mission in Haiti. After a wonderful evening and meals at the guesthouse we left indoor plumbing and electricity behind for the island of Ile a Vashe. Saturday morning started with a 2.5 hour boat ride to the Village of Point Est (Point East). There we constructed a 18ʼ'x93ʼ' school roof. On Monday after a 50 min walk inland to the village of Bois Bouton (Pimply wood) we started construction on two more school roofs. On Thursday we returned to Les Cayes via the boat then back to the States on Friday. Both Ted H. and Justin R. remained in Haiti for a second week that consisted of traveling to Port a Piema to visit the Shallerʼ's, who run the trade school there, to discuss the success of the program. From there they came back to Les Cayes and worked at the Domestic Center installing sewing tables, cabinets, and shelving. We all praise God for a good trip.
