Back Again! We are thankful to have arrived safely back in Haiti once again. We found things in good order and after the usual hellos, hugs, and a great meal prepared by Mme Lulu, we began the unpacking process once again. Many ask us, how do you do this thing, back and forth, back and forth? I guess we have become used to it! I am thankful for the older children who really help out. Derek is always excited to see all the things he has forgotten about!

Rain, Rain, Rain As many of you know, RAIN was the topic for the first week after we arrived. We have never seen so much rain in all our lives. Everyday for over a week it rained. It has damaged 1000’s of homes, taken over 40 lives, and made a mess of many roads. There are rivers that will take weeks until they are passable again. Pray for the many Haitians who are suffering. Our yard man, Audin, came asking for help to fix is outhouse. It seems the block just could not withstand the water pressure against it. During these times, the only comfort is in the Great Comforter who lovingly asks us to trust Him, the giver and taker of life and the sender of rain and sunshine.

Team Season Team season is again upon us. AWA was the first of the 07-08 season. We enjoyed the fellowship of 5 Brothers who spent the week repairing well-drilling equipment, fixing wells, and making decisions for the future. Jan was able to spend time with this crew everyday, which has not been the case in the past. Getting good water to the people is so important. We praise God for good well-drilling equipment and Haitians that can operate it. Pray for the Haitian crew that they can wisely make decisions as they do this important task.
The AWA Brothers left on Friday and the Bluffton Construction Team came in on the afternoon of the same day. A crew of 11 arrived safely with lots of energy. The team has 3 girls around Tess’s age. She knew all of them and will have plenty of stories to share when they all return. The makeshift “shower” is usually interesting and of course the sleeping quarters and the food. We trust that God’s name will be ‘lifted up’ as this team puts a roof on a multi-purpose building. The local Church is responsible for the walls and our Apostolic Church donates the roof. This is an exciting time for the Haitian community associated with the project. They have worked hard to see this day come!

Thanksgiving We were glad to hear that one of the missionaries was willing to host a Thanksgiving Meal for all the missionaries. Agape Flights kindly finds people in the States willing to donate turkey and the “fixins,” and they flew them in last week. We ordered 3 extra turkeys for the big meal, and then we all individually get a turkey to eat whenever we want. We will probably wait until Christmas. It is a wonderful time of fellowship and a “piece of home” that we all enjoy. Everyone pitches in to bring food, set up tables, and clean up.
Wrap Up! Without a doubt, we count on your prayers during our time here in Haiti. Each day brings new challenges, but by God’s grace, we seek to be faithful one day at a time. We often hear stories of faithful Haitian Christians who are serving the Lord Jesus here in Haiti. Their lives are an example of God’s power and working in this difficult country. Let’s continue to pray for one another as we seek to glorify our Lord Jesus day by day. He is worthy of all we can do for Him, and it is because of Him that we go on. In December Val’s parents plan to make their first visit to see us. Pray for safe travels and good health during their stay, December 18-26.
